I’m currently Lead Product Designer at Cuckoo, a countercultural internet provider that’s on a mission to make broadband faster, fairer, and just a little more fun. I split my time between multiple squads, from Internal Tooling to our shiny new App squad, and I’m also the designer and keeper of Yolk — our ever-growing design system that keeps our UI consistent as the business scales. My happy place is collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into live, tested, user-centric experiences.
Before Cuckoo, I hopped between agencies and in-house roles at brands like Rab and John Lewis, giving me hands-on experience in both nimble startups and large global organisations (read: I can thrive in both a scrappy brainstorm and a 12 person stakeholder meeting).
Outside of work, I live in a slowly-but-surely renovated house in Nottingham with my wife and our two daughters, Juniper and Clemmie. I’m into medium format photography, reading, travel, sport, and making furniture for the house — because nothing says “relaxing weekend” like buying a power tool you barely know how to use.

I've had the pleasure of working with Al since last July, and he's been an outstanding mobile designer throughout - always collaborative, with a sharp eye for detail and a constant focus on delivering the best user experience. He’ll be a huge asset to any team lucky enough to have him.

Al's creativity and attention to detail are unparalleled. Working with him on our digital product design was an absolute pleasure. He has a unique ability to translate complex ideas into simple things.

Alex is a top notch designer who I would name amongst the best I have had the pleasure of working with. A natural creative with a great sense of space, typography and composition. He is positive, honest and hardworking. A great guy to have around. I highly recommend him.
